A place to document the research and development of the project.

Project South Yorkshire is my attempt to develop an accurate Trainz route that contains the majority of the railway routes and associated infrastructure of South Yorkshire (and a bit of NE Derbyshire).

The setting is the mid 1950s, so as to be able to run trains from the 1940s to 1960s pretty accurately.  All the track is, where possible, detailed to circa 1955 maps.

There’s a lot of work involved in this project, which I’ve been working on for a number of years already.  In fact this is my second go as the first attempt, originally stared 8 years ago, was completely lost during a hard drive failure.  It’s taken some time to feel ready to start work again but I have and good progress is being made.

It’s worth noting that both computer spec and TRS2019 are both significantly more powerful now resulting in some things being a bit easier and some more complex (PBR Materials for object construction!).

Please feel free to browse the website and let me know what you think. There’s plenty of research material here but I could always do with more.

I must say a huge thankyou to Niall Jordan for permission to use his images on this site.
