Built by the Hunslet Engine Company Ltd, Leeds, to Works No.3788, in 1953, and delivered, new, to the National Coal Board, New Monckton, No.1, 2, and 6, Colliery, Royston, where it was sometime named, ‘N.C.B. Monckton No.1’. The locomotive was rebuilt, by the Hunslet Engine Company Ltd, Leeds, to Works No.59240, in 1964. The locomotive was transferred, to North Gawber Colliery, Mapplewell, on 14/11/1967, where it was to remain, until sold into preservation, at the Yorkshire Dales Railway, Embsay, on 23/02/1980.
